To drive home its message that everyone should treat level crossings with respect and obey the safety rules, Network Rail has released a video of a scooter crashing into both barriers at Navigation Road crossing in Altrincham, Manchester, in March 2017. The scooter crashes and deposits both its rider and passenger in the road.
There are around 6,000 level crossings on the rail network and Network Rail has a legal duty to assess, manage and control the risk for everyone.
