Eurostar services disrupted after problems near Lille

SNCF engineers had to replace 600 metres of signalling cable that had been stolen from troughs near Lille.

Eurostar services between London and Paris have been delayed and cancelled due to severe problems on the LGV Nord line near Lille.

First, two trespassers were hit by trains near Lille on Tuesday 24 June 2025, causing the line to be shut for most of the day. Then, on the morning of Wednesday 25 June, 600 metres of copper signalling cables were stolen out of troughing near Mont-de-Terre station, between Lille and Lezennes. Trains were rerouted or cancelled while SNCF mobilised a team of engineers to make repairs.

Full repairs were completed and traffic resumed as normal at 1pm BST/2pm CET. Some delays continued until the end of the day.
