Harting sells off Systems business to concentrate on connector technology

Harting Systems produces vending machines, checkout areas and cashier desks

The Harting Technology Group, which manufactures a range of high-technology connectors for the rail and other industries, has sold its Harting Systems subsidiary to independent investment company TMP Beteiligungsgesellschaft for an undisclosed sum.

Harting Systems GmbH is a provider of innovative solutions in the field of automated and digitalised checkout zones and merchandise dispensers. Based in Espelkamp, the company employs 150 people and has many years of experience in the industry.

Starting with the manufacture of cigarette vending machines in 1959, Harting Systems moved into supermarket checkout areas in 1992 and cashier desks in 2013.

The sale will allow Harting to concentrate on its connector technology

The sale will allow Harting Technology to place greater emphasis on is core connectivity business and its international growth strategy. Harting supplies the connection technology for transmitting data, signals and power in many railway applications, using this technology for Ethernet backbones and data infrastructures (eg for sensors and passenger information systems). The company also specialises in high-power applications, including interfaces for traction motors.

While the new owners create a new independent corporate structure, a distinct corporate identity, and a product and corporate brand, Harting Technology will continue to act as a service partner to Harting Systems.
