Anit Chandarana has been appointed interim director general of the Rail Infrastructure Group

The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced that Anit Chandarana will be the interim director general of its new Rail Infrastructure Group.

Anit will join on secondment from Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) where he is currently lead director. He will take up his new role in August and work closely with GBRTT, DfT colleagues and the sector to deliver the government’s vision for rail reform as set out by the Secretary of State in his Bradshaw Address, progress plans for the establishment of Great British Railways (GBR), and ensure the benefits of a guiding mind for the railway are delivered as soon as possible.

Within the DfT, the Rail Infrastructure Group works closely with the Rail Strategy and Services Group and High Speed Rail Group to provide a fully integrated approach to delivering rail investment.
