TSP Projects goes to Systra

West Drayton station - TSP Projects carried out platform extension work.

SYSTRA, the French engineering consultancy with a presence in more than 80 countries worldwide, has acquired award-winning UK multi-discipline design and engineering consultancy TSP Projects.

TSP Projects was released from the British Steel portfolio last week and will now become a wholly owned subsidiary of Systra Ltd, doubling the French company’s presence in the UK. The company name will be retained as it becomes TSP Projects, a Systra company.

The move creates an opportunity for both organisations as TSP Projects’ expertise in civil engineering, electrification and track will complement Systra ’s UK rail engineering services. In return, Systra has committed to support TSP Projects’ other business sectors – energy from waste, security and construction.

With an annual turnover of £35 million, TSP Projects employs over 400 people across its offices in York, Manchester, Birmingham, Reading and Bristol. Along with Systra Ltd’s 13 offices, this will create an 800-strong combined workforce in the UK.

Pascal Mercier, Systra.

Systra Ltd CEO Pascal Mercier said: “As the signature team for transportation solutions, Systra is committed to providing clients with truly specialist expertise, delivered locally.

“This acquisition is a game-changer for our UK & Ireland business, placing us among the leading UK consulting engineering firms. This is a good fit between two like-minded companies with a shared commitment to excellence, safety and innovation.”

TSP Projects has a significant portfolio of ongoing work, being active on a number of large rail projects including Leeds station roof and concourse transformation, Gatwick Airport station, the Transpennine Route Upgrade and the East Coast Power Supply Upgrade. In addition, the company is also working on a number of energy-from-waste projects across the UK.

Craig Scott, TSP Projects.

Craig Scott, TSP Projects CEO, commented: “We are pleased to be part of a global engineering company which shares our focus on technical excellence and has pledged to support our continued growth.

“After a number of years of uncertainty under a variety of owners, Systra provides a stable and long-term home which will present great opportunities for TSP Projects’ staff.

“Our clients will see continuity of great service as we continue to deliver high quality design and build engineering solutions from concept to completion.”
