World Cup of Stations returns for 2020

Huddersfield won the World Cup of Stations in 2019.

In the run up to Stations Day on 16 October, the Rail Delivery Group is organising its ‘World Cup of Stations’ competition for the second year running.

The rail industry’s annual celebration of all stations big and small, the World Cup of Stations runs on Twitter from 21 September to 16 October, including a nominations phase, knock-out group stages, semi-finals and the final.

This year has been tough for everyone, but stations have been there for their communities – from staff raising money for charity and volunteering with the NHS, to those keeping the trains running to help key workers travel safely.

Last year saw Huddersfield station crowned as the first ever winner. This year, the nominations phase has seen 48 stations nominated (four each in 10 regions + London + Best Stations winners from the National Rail Awards) – the full list is below.

Between 12 and 14 October, votes will count towards selecting the 12 semi-finalists,  On Thursday 15 October, those 12 will be whittled down to four finalists (North, South, East and West). Voting for those finalists will reveal the winner on Friday 16 October – Stations Day.
