As part of its campaign to encourage the use of face coverings on its trains, Northern has launched a competition giving customers the chance to win a selection of specially designed face masks, and a weekend of free travel.
A total of 30 passengers will be selected to receive four limited-edition face coverings designed by talented northern tattoo artists Joe Ellis and Sway, both based at Sacred Electric Tattoo in Leeds, as well as Manchester-based tattoo artist Eve Mansell. A weekend of free travel for four people is also up for grabs.
To enter the competition customers can take a picture of themselves wearing a face covering and post this to Instagram, tagging @northernrailway and using #TravelSafely.
The competition closes on Tuesday 8 September at 11:59pm, and the winners will be announced shortly after. There’s no limit to the amount of times the competition can be entered, so customers can snap away to their hearts content.
Mark Powles, customer and commercial director at Northern, said: “We’ve teamed up with the fantastic Joe Ellis, Sway, and Eve Mansell to create a selection of limited-edition Northern face coverings for 30 lucky winners wear while travelling with us – for free, for a whole weekend.
“We’d like to remind our customers that wearing a face covering on board our trains is compulsory unless they are exempt.
“We are amending our timetables to help customers who may be returning to schools and workplaces for the first time. From 14 September we will be providing additional services on many routes, with an emphasis on providing additional capacity during the morning and evening peaks.
“With social distancing still in place, space on our trains is still limited. Customers, therefore, need to plan journeys carefully and avoid travelling at peak times where possible.”
