Rolls-Royce Power Systems, the parent company of both MTU Solutions and Bergen Engines, has announced that Otto Preiss has been appointed as its new chief operating officer (COO).
MTU’s high-speed diesels power many of today’s diesel and bi-mode trains in the UK and around the world, while Bergen’s medium-speed diesel engines normally find use in the power generation, oil & gas and marine sectors,
For the last 30 years, Otto Preiss has worked at power and automation specialist ABB in a wide-ranging variety of global leadership positions. Most recently, he was group senior vice president, acting in the role of chief operating officer (digital), and prior to that he headed up ABB’s global Motors and Generators division.
He graduated in electrical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and then went on to achieve a Master’s degree in computer science at the University of Colorado, following which he earned his doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne.
