James McGowan, transport policy advisor to Shadow Transport Secretary Andy McDonald, has been named by train-leasing company Porterbrook as its new director of public affairs.
He brings with him over twenty years’ experience in politics and communications and was formerly head of policy and communications for rail union ASLEF.
James has the ability to communicate and engage with an array of stakeholders, including industry groups, MPs and regional administrations, and will work alongside Rupert Brennan-Brown, who takes up a new role as Porterbrook’s director of stakeholder engagement.
They will work together to ensure that Porterbrook is attuned to the needs of stakeholders so the business can continue collaborating with customers and the supply chain to deliver a reliable and sustainable railway.
