Keith Hutchins has joined systems and engineering technology consultancy Frazer-Nash as a senior consultant within its growing rail group.
Before joining Frazer-Nash, Keith had spent 13 years with Siemens, heading up a small team undertaking engineering development trials and improvement projects, developing maintenance strategy and providing general engineering support to Siemens maintained fleets.
He had a particular involvement with industry groups concerning the wheel-rail interface.
Richard Wheldon, Frazer-Nash’s rail transformation leader, said: “With over 37 years’ experience across a wide spectrum of traction and rolling stock (T&RS) activities within the railway industry, Keith will support our delivery of engineering solutions to train manufacturers, operators, owners and equipment suppliers.
“His considerable technical experience and industry contacts will help us to develop our rail service offerings, as well as to deliver mentoring to more junior staff.
“Throughout his career, Keith has worked across the whole product life cycle within rolling stock – from design, through to maintenance and repair projects – and has supported rail companies to introduce new technologies for their vehicle maintenance. His expertise in providing consultancy advice to clients on a wide spectrum of traction and rolling stock aspects, from design and maintenance issues, to safety, operational and regulatory challenges, will help us to deliver solutions to our rail clients’ complex challenges.
“Keith’s experience in whole-life cost modelling will enable him to advise our clients on the cost implications of their potential investments. He uses his analytical skills to manage data; define life cycle cost and maintenance strategies from data sets; to investigate technical problems; and to present information so it can be clearly understood by stakeholders.”
